The problem with the Middle East is Israel; the problem with Israel is the USA and the West. – Tim Veater

The problem with the Middle East is Israel; the problem with Israel is the USA and the West.
Helen Thomas the famous American author and news service reporter, who covered eleven U.S. president administrations—from Eisenhower to Obama – died on July 20, 2013 aged 93.
In this 2012 ten minute (9.22 actually!) video clip (1.) she is interviewed regarding the American approach to Israel and its Zionist objectives in relation to Palestine: those who had lived there for generations before the state was established in 1948.
She highlights the immense power of the Jewish lobby in American politics and the failure of successive administrations, including Obama’s, to deal even handedly with the two sides.
Only Carter’s comes out with any credit, making gains that were to prove largely illusory in the long run. (A brief Carter interview regarding his book on the subject of “Israeli apartheid” and why he considers the term justified, can be found here. (2.))
In a 2009 press conference she asked Obama if he knew what countries in the Middle East had nuclear weapons ? He replied he, “Didn’t wish to speculate.”
This was, to say the least, being “economical with the truth”, as both he and we know only Israel possesses them, and has done so illegally since the mid-eighties – probably now in the region of five hundred warheads – that pose a significant threat to its neighbours and world peace and stability.
(Incidentally, she was never invited to a Presidential press conference with him again.)
It may even pose a threat to the west given proven involvement in the events of “9/11″ in America and it is suggested “7/7″ in London. (Netanyahu was in London at the time and it is claimed advised by Scotland Yard to remain in doors prior to the explosions taking place!) (2.)
What cannot be denied is that of necessity, the WMD danger emanating from Israel now and then, must be greater than that from Iraq in 2003, for the simple reason Israel had/has them and Iraq didn’t.
In the case of the non-existent threat from Iraq it precipitated invasion, war and subsequent chaos; in respect of the real threat from Israel, possessing chemical, biological and nuclear weapons, what is the west’s response?
Well we all know don’t we? A sweet fat NOTHING.
It is the shameful inverse corollary of the Franco/British response to the Gaddafi threat to civilians, with the ACTUAL murder of civilians in Gaza. It is this flagrant favouritism that undermines any claim to British even-handedness or as unbiased adjudicator on Middle East policy and the intervention currently taking place, ostensibly against the immediate threat posed by ISIS – an outfit it is claimed largely created, funded and directed clandestinely by Qatar., Israel and the West!
Can there be any doubt that the mayhem caused in Iraq, Libya, Egypt and Syria is not wholly in accord with American/Israeli strategic planning and objectives to neutralise Israel’s potential adversaries, the next being Iran, within the context of a demonised Muslim paradigm?
I am sure UK Government policy does not reflect majority British sentiment in the matter, despite all the efforts of the news media and other subversive elements to slant the story in Israel’s favour and excuse the indefensible.
Eventually the British people will be heard, if for no other reason than they despise the bully, which to its eternal shame, Israel has proved itself to be.

Things cannot stay the same after Israeli genocide in Gaza 21.08.2014 By Ramzy Baroud – Tim Veater

.
“After every bloody episode of violence perpetrated by Israel, media spin doctors are often deployed with one grand mission: to absolve Israel of any responsibility in their acts of carnage. Not only do these apologists demonize Palestinians, but anyone who dares to take a stand on their behalf.
.
The main staple of this Israeli strategy has been blaming the victim. Such a tactic is nothing new in the way the so-called “Arab-Israeli conflict” has been presented in Western media, whose narrative has been much closer to that of Israeli official and media discourses than that of Palestinians. This continued despite the decades-long military occupation, successive wars, and countless massacres.”
